Our Curriculum
At 7oaks Preschool, we believe that every child deserves a nurturing, supportive and enriching learning environment.
Our curriculum is designed to foster holistic development for children from infancy to kindergarten, supporting them through every step of their early years.
Overview
The programme includes four key stages: infant care (2 to 17 months), pre-nursery, nursery (18 months to 4 years), and kindergarten (5 to 6 years). Our comprehensive approach is delivered through two core programmes:

The Creative Child
(2 mths to 3 yrs)
Aligned with the Early Years Development Framework (EYDF)

The Global Child
(2 mths to 3 yrs)
Aligned with the Nurturing Early Learners (NEL) Framework

The Creative Child
(Infant Care, Playgroup, Pre-Nursery)
Our Creative Child programme is built around the EYDF, supporting your child’s optimal learning from birth to age three and ensuring a smooth transition into kindergarten.
In our infant care programme, we focus on building respectful and positive relationships through responsive, reciprocal interactions that foster secure attachments and confidence.
For Playgroup and Pre-Nursery, we embrace a play-based curriculum that encourages learning driven by your child’s natural curiosity and interests. Our thoughtfully structured routines provide a safe and stimulating space for your child to learn and grow.
Through schematic play with natural, open-ended materials, we foster exploration, creativity, and sensory engagement, supporting your child’s physical, cognitive, and social development.
The Global Child
(Nursery, K1, K2)
Designed for children aged 4 to 6, our Global Child programme is grounded in the NEL Framework. We take a guided inquiry approach inspired by Inquiry-Based Learning to encourage active exploration and discovery.
This programme nurtures confident, happy children with inquisitive minds, supporting them in achieving the intended NEL learning outcomes.
Our curriculum content is organised around five key learning areas, using themes and topics that capture your child’s imagination. These areas are carefully planned to provide developmentally appropriate experiences and promote growth in all areas.
Learning goals at each stage are supported by scaffolding strategies, allowing our educators to extend and enrich your child’s learning journey.
Our integrated curriculum not only supports the acquisition of knowledge and skills but also places a strong emphasis on language, critical thinking, problem-solving, and social-emotional development.

Curriculum Support for Diverse Learners
At 7oaks, we understand that every child is unique. That’s why our curriculum is intentionally designed to cater to diverse learners with varying abilities, interests, and learning styles.
We differentiate our content by adjusting the complexity of learning and offering resources that cater to both basic and advanced levels of the curricular theme.
In our learning centres, experiences are curated to match each child with appropriate activities based on their readiness and developmental level.
We also offer variety in both learning processes and the ways children present their understanding. Learning takes place in both small and large groups, and our educators have the flexibility to adapt activities and introduce age-appropriate concepts and challenges.
Children are empowered to choose how they demonstrate their learning, fostering a sense of ownership and accomplishment. For children with special needs, Individualised Activity Plans (IAPs) are used to guide differentiated support, ensuring that every child feels valued and supported.
Unique Curricular Elements
Phonics-based Approach
A distinctive feature of our curriculum is the use of the Letterland and Keylinks pre-reading programme.
These phonics-based approaches help children explore individual letters and their sounds in written language, building essential literacy skills for future academic success.

Atelier
Another unique aspect is our Atelier, a dedicated space where children work with the Atelierista twice weekly, exploring topics related to classroom themes.
These sessions promote creativity and collaboration, using natural, open-ended materials and intentional provocations to inspire conversation and exploration.
Your child’s work will be thoughtfully displayed throughout the centre, reinforcing our child-centred approach.
Assessment of Learning and Development
At 7oaks, assessment is an ongoing process that encompasses both assessment for learning and assessment of learning.
Our educators use multiple tools to capture your child’s developmental progress, including Developmental checklists, Anecdotal records, Children’s work samples and Literacy assessments within the reading programme.
Each child’s learning journey is digitally documented through LittleLives, contributing to a comprehensive digital portfolio that supports continuity and reflection.
Curriculum Review and Quality Assurance
We are committed to providing the highest quality of care and education.
To ensure our curriculum remains current and responsive to children’s evolving needs, 7oaks conducts reviews annually and at most every five years, in line with updates to national frameworks. These reviews are carried out at both the educator and centre levels.
Centre leaders facilitate quarterly curriculum unpacking sessions with educators to reflect on and adapt learning experiences based on observations and developmental appropriateness.
Classroom observations are an integral part of this reflective practice, providing insights into how the curriculum is enacted and highlighting areas for enhancement.
