Our Journey So Far
PPIS Child Development Centres
When PPIS first opened its doors as a kindergarten back in 1983, the founders had a simple goal of providing quality education.
1993 & 2003
PPIS opened its first few Childcare Centres at Pasir Ris and Sembawang.
The last PPIS Kindergarten at Bukit Batok was finally converted into a Childcare Centre in 2010. The PPIS brand became synonymous with Malay-Muslim parents and is one of the go-to brands for their children’s pre-school needs.
PPIS took an important step to professionalise its ECE department by forming a company called 7oaks to oversee its entire operations and growth. Without compromising its social mission, it grew in both capacity and the number of families it assisted. PPIS also was appointed as a Partner Operator by ECDA.
On the back of 37 years of history, 7oaks operates seven childcare centres with a total enrolment of more than 800 children, providing full-day infant and childcare services for children aged from 2 months to 6 years old. All seven centres are also SPARK accredited and awarded the highest tier of licensing tenure.
PPIS Student Care Centres
Tracing our Student Care Centres’ humble beginnings back to 1989, PPIS first offered the Before and After School Care (BASC) service as part of the PPIS Single Parent Family Service Centre at Ubi. This was driven by the need to address the number of latchkey children among our Malay/Muslim community.
Our student care was first introduced in Jurong West as a programme within the YWMA-Mendaki Family Service Centre in 1995, catering only to the children of the centre’s clients.
Our BASC service at Ubi then moved to Eunos and doubled in capacity to 60 children. In addition, the service was extended to dual-working parents before relocating to our current premises at Bedok Reservoir in 2002 upon the invitation of MCYS (now MSF).
Our YWMA-Mendaki Family Service Centre at Jurong is fully converted into a Student Care Centre. With the transformation, the centre took on a new name – PPIS Student Care Centre Jurong.
Our Student Care centres expanded its core programmes with the same focus on holistic development. An Academic Coaching programme was introduced to strengthen Math, Science and literacy foundation across all age groups. Till date, enrolment at both student care centres have grown to 164 children.
