  • Work under supervision of the Centre Leader within the child care centre’s policies, philosophy and procedures to meet the needs of children and families

Apply child development knowledge to promote and support children’s learning and holistic development specific to individual needs.

Learning Environments and Curriculum

  • Lead and manage a class of her own

Mentorship

  • Serve as role model, acclimatize new teachers to a new school, and advise about instruction, curriculum, procedure, and practices.
  • Provide support in specific areas of teaching practices and pedagogies for existing teachers who are/will be working with a new age group (e.g. role modeling, teaching, and classroom strategies)
  • Engage teachers in reflective practices and/or learning, where applicable.
  • Promote greater collaboration with colleagues so as to increase capacity and capability for professional development and growth.
  • Review and revisit current mentorship framework in consultation with Centre Leader.

  • Diploma in Pre-school Education – Teaching (DPE-T) / Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (DECCE-T), or its equivalent recognized by ECDA
  • Has a valid certificate in first aid recognized by ECDA
  • Has been registered with ECDA and attained a L2 certification
  • Has at least 1 year of ECE experience or fresh Diploma-trained graduates

  • Plans healthy and balanced meals, snacks and refreshments for children in accordance to guidelines of the Healthy Eating in Child Care Centres Programmes (HECCP)
  • Ensures hygiene practices during meal’s preparation
  • Plans, prepares and set a clean and conducive environment for serving the children’s meals/snacks in terms of:
  • Assists during children’s meal times
  • Cleans by wiping and sanitizing tables and sweeping floors after each class meal/snack session
  • Ensures that meals, snack and refreshment served is sufficient for children with allowance for second/third helpings
  • Maintains the general cleanliness of the kitchen by:
  • Washing and sanitizing kitchen floors daily, cleaning the fridge and other equipment on a regular basis.

• Drive the design of quality teaching and learning approaches beyond the curricula frameworks and Centre level

• Project Work -Plan and facilitate small-group research, project work, and materials exploration alongside children in the Atelier and classroom according to the Reggio principles.

• Documentation -Undertake documentation and interpretation of children’s learning processes, using narratives, photos, videos, and posts to make learning visible.

• Atelier – Work with Educators to create mini-atelier spaces in the centre and within each classroom, providing a range of materials and tools to stimulate inquiry and support sustained learning.

• Core-Curriculum (0-3 & 4-6 years) – Collaborates with classroom educators to unpack the curriculum plan to support long-term research and project work

• Assists educators in designing classroom provocations and assessment for learning that are aligned with the curriculum goals for the children
